Welcome to KTH Racing, KTH's very own racing team!
KTH Racing is based at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and this year’s Formula Student-team consists of about 50 students from seven different fields of engineering. Next year's entry will involve several new exciting technologies, continuing the success of the R5 - winner of "Most Innovative Use of Electronics".Wednesday 10th of February, 2010, 12:48
A couple of days ago we recived an e-mail from the FSG-competition in Germany that we had a place on the grid in the new class for electric cars. KTH Racing will by that be the first swedish team to ever race an electric car at a competiton. According to the rules we are going to use and rebuild the driveline on the KTH R5 for 100% electric drive for the competition.

Limited Slip Differential
The first part for this season’s build has arrived. It is a part for the drivetrain, a limited slip differential from Drexler that is custom made for the Formula Student application. In the car a sprocket and chain will connect the engine to the differential and then from there, driveshafts will connect the differential to the wheels. It will allow one of the wheels to move controlled slightly faster through corners depending of the setup of the differential.

Friday, 14th of August, KTH Racing together with 3 Swedish Formula Student teams (LU Racing, Chalmers Formula Student and Clear River Racing) showed up at STCC event in Karlskoga. During the day we had a seminar with famous personalities in Swedish motor sport, such as Tony Ring, Jonas Jarlmark and others.
The day ended up with an Endurance race on Karlskoga track (also known as Gelleråsen), the oldest track in Sweden. The track was modified with cones so that it was suitable for Formula Student Cars, but it was bigger than usual and truly fast as well. There were 5 cars on the track and safety was prioritized since the cars reached speeds of nearly 150 km/h. Clear River Racing’s car lost one of its wheels, but nobody got hurt. KTH R6 has been repaired after the breakdown at Hockenheimring and performed well. The race was spectacular for all the visitors, who had a good chance to see what Formula Student is about.
Big thanks to Pialill Ring from Swedish Motorsport Industry, who helped us to organize the event!
Our next challenge will be Baltic Open, a Formula Student competition, which will take place in Helsinki, Finland during 20-21 of August.
