It will be used with additional self developed hardware to create a torque vectoring solution. CAN bus will be integrated. To get the code for the FPGA a torque vectoring control loop will be simulated in Matlab Simulink.

Thanks to Altera!
The last days have been full of action for KTH Racing.

After finishing the static events and scrutineering, we were all set to start the dynamic events. Since we came to Hungary, a lot has happened with our car, the steering column broke, the differential bracket broke, the motor mount broke and we've had some more minor problems. We have been able to fix all of those problems, and we've competed in the Skid Pad, Acceleration, Autocross and are right now getting ready to run the final dynamic event, the Endurance!

In the Endurance event, the goal is to drive 22 km without refueling, with one stop after 11 km for a driver change.
As you might already know, we built a dual powertrain car this year. It's one car with an interchangeable rear part so we can easily convert the car from combustion to electric and vice versa. We have just finished the competition in Hockenheim, Germany, where we competed with an electric powertrain, next we will compete in Györ in Hungary, the 18th of August - 21st of August, with our combustion powertrain.

Now we are in the small town Viernheim, close to Mannheim in Southwest Germany, where Örebro Express, Sweden's most friendly transport company, got us a garage to convert the car back to combustion.

We started the conversion in the afternoon yesterday and plan to finish today afternoon. After that we have Wednesday off to enjoy Germany followed by a visit to the UAS Munich Formula Student team on Thursday, they have been so kind as to accommodate us for two nights and show us around their FS workshop.
It is a part for the drivetrain, a limited slip differential from Drexler that is custom made for the Formula Student application. In the car a sprocket and chain will connect the engine to the differential and then from there, driveshafts will connect the differential to the wheels. It will allow one of the wheels to move controlled slightly faster through corners depending of the setup of the differential.
