KTH RACING'S SPONSORS
Welcome to KTH Racing, KTH's very own formula student team!
KTH Racing is based at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and this year's Formula Student-team consists of about 40 students from several fields of engineering. We would like to invite you to the world of Formula Student and KTH Racing.Wednesday 09th of May, 2012, 15:42
Those days, working in the garage feels like being in a post office! A lot of packages with material arrive and we are very happy about every single piece that we get from our sponsors and contributors.
Epotex säljservice AB sent us a package with all the necessary epoxy and hardener for this year. Tonight, we will directly start doing testpieces with the Textreme carbon fibre, the stuff from Epotex and our other delivered products today:
We also got the copper mesh from our sponsor GKD - Gebr. Kufferath AG. According to the rules we have to ensure the safety of the people working on the car as well as driving the car. This brings up the need for a copper mesh layer in the carbon fibre parts to lower the resistence of those parts. The Kufferath AG is one of the world's leading technical weaving companies for weaving of metal and other materials.
Additionally, we got all the tools from our long term sponsor Domer that we need to manufacture the plug for the bodywork this year.

Next to all that stuff, we also got a package from Hydroscand. The hoses and the hoseclamps for the cooling system are included there. The assembly and distribution of hoses and fluid connectors are their main business area.
We want to thank all of the above mentioned sponsors and hope for a long lasting relationship in the future!

Last week, three members of our team joined the CNC training at the architecture department last week. Together with researchers of the architecture school, they learned how to use mastercam and the CNC mill down in the workshop. Hand in hand with the department, KTH Racing will manufacture the body plug for the bodywork. Thanks to Mastercam and especially to Jonas from architecture for the support. Benny Nyberg from Sensotest visited our garage last Thursday. As a contributor for temperature sensors, he handed us out a sponsoring package from Optris. The sensor will be used to measure the break disc temperature in our this years car. Optris is a specialist in the field of infrared temperature sensors. Benny from Sensotest talked to some of our guys, that were presenting him the design and concept of this year. Sensotest is a retailer for testing- and measuring devices. Their field of specialization is in contact-free measuring of temperature, position, distance, dimension and surface structure. Additionally, infrared heat measuring is a big part of their work. We would like to thank Sensotest and also Optris for their contribution to our team!
In the end of last week, we also got some working trousers from Björnkläder for the actual manufacturing of the R9e. Check out the picture to the left - the team felt like models, what brought us up to a little funny photoshooting. Today, two of our members got introduced to the 3D printer up in the Mechanical Engineering department of out school. With the usage of additive manufacturing, we will be able to produce customized parts for our R9e. We are looking forward to work on the facilities up in M.
Right now, the Scandinavian Welding Champion Karl Johansson from ESAB is checking out our garage and out frame from this year. Thanks for this amazing opportunity to evaluate our weldings and for the tipps we get from Karl.

This year we are supported from our Swedish fellows from Oxeon. They sent us a package with their extrem cool carbon fibre Textreme®. TeXtreme® Spread Tow carbon reinforcements are using spread tows to produce optimized reinforcements for ultra light composites. Spreading tows (yarns) into very thin tapes enables reinforcements in woven structure as well as unidirectional tapes with mechanical performance and possibility for weight savings that are unique compared to conventional reinforcements. That is, what their products make that exciting! We are very happy to have Oxeon as a contributor on our side and hope for a long-lasting cooperation in the future! Ett speciellt tack till Christian Borg för hans stöd!
